PixieWire vs MagicTable

MagicTable is an app-first Disney dining and activity alert service for iPhone and Android, with thousands of App Store ratings. Here is how it compares with PixieWire on what you pay, how alerts reach you and what you can see before you buy. We build PixieWire, so every MagicTable fact below links to the page it came from.

One alert, over and over, for a full year

PixieWire's Single Watch is not a one-time alert. Watch one table at a time for 12 months; booked it or changed your mind, create a new watch for the next restaurant, as many times as you like, for no extra charge.

A big app following

MagicTable lives in its app, with 4.8★ from 5,771 App Store ratings and 4.7★ on Google Play (10K+ downloads), and you set every alert there. PixieWire works in any browser and in a free iPhone app with push alerts. We don't have an Android app yet, and we don't have that many ratings.

A free alert vs free data

MagicTable starts you with a free alert, then premium tiers for unlimited alerts, and its place pages can rate how hard a table is to book. PixieWire has no free alerts. What we give away is data: every restaurant page shows a free 60-day availability calendar and 30 days of history, no account needed, so you can see how hard a table is before you pay anyone.

Prices on the website vs in the app

MagicTable's website lists no prices. Its App Store listing shows in-app purchases from $4.99 to $79.99, including a 90-day Trip Pass at $29.99, and its FAQ says subscriptions are cancelled in the app or your App Store or Google Play account. PixieWire's prices are on our site and every pass is one payment that never renews: the Trip Pass is $24.99 for 90 days with 25 alerts, texts and Ride Alerts.

Push, texts and email

MagicTable sends push notifications or texts; we found no email alerts. PixieWire sends email and iPhone app push on every pass, texts from $9.99, and every pass shares its alerts with up to 2 more people by email or phone number.

Speed you can check

MagicTable's home page says alerts arrive within seconds, its restaurant pages say it checks every few minutes, and its App Store listing says you'll be notified faster than any other dining alerts service, with no published test. PixieWire publishes a measured interval: each watched Walt Disney World table is checked about every 18 seconds on every pass, with the method on our alert speed page.

Restaurants and activities

Both cover Walt Disney World and Disneyland. MagicTable says it monitors over 300 restaurants, dining events, tours and activities, including Savi's Workshop and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. PixieWire watches 155 dining venues on both coasts, plus Walt Disney World experiences Disney books online, such as Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.
