Salt & Straw at Disney Springs — Portland's Cult Ice Cream Shop Meets the West Side
Portland's boundary-pushing ice cream shop brings rotating seasonal flavors, 13+ classic scoops, and free samples to Disney Springs West Side — and it's the perfect post-movie treat after a show at the AMC next door.

If you’ve never heard of Salt & Straw, here’s the short version: it’s a Portland-born ice cream shop that makes small-batch flavors most chains would never attempt. Honey Lavender. Strawberry Honey Balsamic with Black Pepper. Arbequina Olive Oil. And somehow every one of them works. Their Disney Springs location on the West Side — right next to the AMC theater — brings that same boundary-pushing lineup to Walt Disney World, and it’s one of the best dessert stops on the property.
There’s nothing better than catching a movie at the AMC Dine-In Theatres at Disney Springs and walking next door for a scoop of something you’ve never tried before.

What Makes Salt & Straw Different?
Salt & Straw isn’t another Häagen-Dazs counter. Every flavor is handmade in small batches using ingredients sourced from farmers and producers they actually name on the menu. The Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons is built on thick ribbons of house-made caramel and artisan salt. The Honey Lavender steeps real lavender petals into cream. The Chocolate Gooey Brownie folds house-baked brownies right out of the pan.
The menu rotates every month with a new seasonal series, but the 13 classic flavors are always available. You’re never stuck choosing between “chocolate” and “vanilla” — you’re choosing between Panther Coffee Chocolate Tres Leches and Salted Malted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.

Current Seasonal Flavors — Waste Less Series (Spring 2026)
Salt & Straw’s current limited edition lineup is the Waste Less Series — flavors built around transforming overlooked ingredients (spent grains, bruised fruit, surplus baked goods) into something worth standing in line for. Seasonal flavors rotate monthly — check the posted menu when you arrive for the current lineup.
- Chocolate Date Tiramisu Stracciatella — coffee-forward tiramisu ice cream sweetened with dates, espresso-soaked chocolate cake, crisp chocolate stracciatella flecks
- Cherry Red Velvet Cheesecake — tangy red velvet cream cheese frozen yogurt with cherry marmalade and vanilla bean cheesecake chunks
- Chocolate Malted Potato Chip Cupcake — malty chocolate barley milk ice cream with fudgy cupcake hunks and chocolate-dipped potato chips
- Peanut Butter & Jelly Pound Cake — salted sweet cream with blueberry jam, baked peanut butter crumbles, and rich pound cake
- Coffee and Stone Fruit Marmalade — robust coffee ice cream with a 50/50 beanless and Arabica blend, swirled with stone fruit marmalade
These rotate — by the time you read this, the next monthly series may already be scooping. That’s part of the fun. Check their posted menu when you arrive.

What We Ordered
We’ve been to Salt & Straw at Disney Springs multiple times, and the play is always the same: ask to sample two or three flavors you’ve never tried, then get a scoop of whatever surprised you the most. They’re generous with samples and expect you to taste before you buy.
On our most recent visit, we went with the Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons and the Chocolate Gooey Brownie. The Sea Salt is what Salt & Straw is known for — the caramel ribbons are thick and glossy, and the salt hits differently than anything you’d get from a standard salted caramel. The Chocolate Gooey Brownie is dense, fudgy, and tastes like eating a warm brownie folded into cold ice cream.

A single scoop at $7.50 is expensive by regular ice cream standards, but reasonable for Disney Springs and genuinely premium quality. The kid’s scoop at $6.25 is a solid deal — it’s a real portion, not a token. The pints at $12.95 are actually cheaper per ounce than scooping, so if you’re staying at a resort with a freezer, take one home.

The Post-Movie Move
Salt & Straw sits right next to the AMC Dine-In Theatres on Disney Springs West Side. After a movie, walk next door and you’re in line for some of the best ice cream on Disney property. No park ticket, no reservation, no planning required. It’s the kind of spontaneous treat that makes a Disney Springs evening feel like more than just shopping.

Also at Disney Springs
Salt & Straw is a great pick for a creamy treat while you’re at Disney Springs — especially after catching a movie next door. But if we’re being honest, our go-to ice cream spot at Walt Disney World is Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at the Beach Club Resort. The Kitchen Sink sundae is a rite of passage, and the atmosphere is pure 1950s soda fountain. Fair warning: it’s a table-service restaurant and reservations are tough to get — use our dining alert system to snag that table.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Salt & Straw offer free samples?
Yes. Walk up to the counter and ask to try any flavor. They’ll scoop a small taste onto a tasting spoon. There’s no limit — try as many as you need to decide. This is one of the best things about Salt & Straw versus other Disney Springs dessert spots.
Are there vegan options at Salt & Straw?
Yes. Three of the classic flavors are vegan: Freckled Mint Chocolate Chip, Strawberry Coconut Water Sherbet, and Hazelnut Cookies and Cream. Seasonal menus sometimes include additional vegan options. Ask the staff — they’ll point you to what’s available.
How often do the seasonal flavors change?
Monthly. Salt & Straw launches a new themed series every month. Recent themes include the Waste Less Series (sustainability-focused), Cereal-sly Delicious (breakfast cereal), and various holiday collections. The five seasonal flavors replace each other while the 13 classics stay permanent.
Can I take a pint back to my Disney resort?
Yes. They sell pints for $12.95. If your resort room has a freezer (most do), you can enjoy Salt & Straw for days after your visit.
Menus and prices are based on Disney’s published data as of April 2026 and are subject to change. Seasonal flavors rotate monthly. Visit the official Disney menu page for the most current information.
